Art Journaling, Music, Giveaway!

In this blog post: A new class for art journalers and absolute beginners + a giveaway!

Gratitude Junk Journal 2020

For a long time, I have been thinking about creating an art journaling class that would be geared for absolute beginners. Art journaling is where my creative rise started 10 years ago, and I still want to stay in touch with that. So when Tiare Smith asked me to join her Gratitude Junk Journal 2020 program, I was happy to say yes. We have 12 instructors, and each of us has picked a theme for a page. Mine is Music, and I absolutely loved making the class. It was a chance to express my gratitude for another inspiring art form, and help others do the same.

Gratitude Junk Journal – More About My Class

Paivi Eerola and her art journals.

With this class, you’ll create music-inspired art journal pages based on one song or a collection of songs, learn about the similarities between music and visual art, and express togetherness – something we never have enough as artists and as human beings. We’ll first paint a musical landscape and then continue with the melody. I’ll show several examples and inspire you to try different songs for a page. My class includes scribbling, doodling, inking, coloring, and painting. It has 3 videos (about 1 hour total), but you’ll also get 11 more classes with the price.

Gratitude Junk Journal 2020 begins on Nov 1st

  1. Lovely give away Päivi.
The song that inspires me is Where is the love, van. Black Eyed Peas.
The question sung in such an intense way with changes in the tekst depending on the situation where it’s been played.

  2. My favorite song is: Where do I begin, it is from the movie Love Story and sung by Andy Williams. I almost lost my husband because of a bad heart. Thank God he is still with me, I love him with whole my heart for 34 years.

  3. Looking forward to the class. Living here in the USA, I feel gratitude is a healthy way to deal with the problem we are facing. Kiitos paljon.

  4. My inspiring song is a hymn called Rise Again. I LOVE, love, love old hymns when I’m creating.

  5. This looks like a beautiful class. Music by artist such as Van Morrison, Hector and Enya work well for my attempts at art.

  6. Oh so many songs and artists to choose from! At this moment, the soundtrack from Hal David’s and Burt Bacharach’s Lost Horizon are constantly in my head since I just watched the musical again this week. So many moods in the music.
Thanks for the opportunity of this giveaway.
    Cynthia

  7. I can’t think of a specific song right now (you know how that goes – I could name a thousand songs if you hadn’t asked!!) Thank you for giving away a spot in the class.

  8. My favorite singer/songwriter is Marc Martel, and one of my favourite songs he’s written is called Our Best.

I’ve often wanted to create art based on music, and I’ve been stuck most of the time, so I’m excited what you have to share. Love your art!

Thanks for the opportunity to win a free slot in the class. 🙂

  9. ‘I will leave a light on’… love this song with all my heart as I lost a friend this year. It reminds me to embrace life, help others to do the same.
    Thankyou Pavi 😊

  10. What a great opportunity to get started in art journaling. Paivi, thanks for encouraging us to participate! …… I have a lot of favorite songs. One of them is “Tomorrow” from the musical, “Annie”. As Annie says, “Tomorrow, Tomorrow, there’s always tomorrow. It’s only a day away.”

  11. When I need music inspiration, I like to put on a Beatles album. The songs bring me back to a more carefree time and seem to loosen me up. It doesn’t matter which song, but if I have list just one I guess I would say I Want to Hold Your Hand. Perhaps they are helping to guide my hand as I create.

  12. My current music inspiration is Francesco Caballi, L’Amore Innamorato., a Venetian baroque opera from the 17th century. It’s my way of switching from my daytime left brain to my evening right brain.

  13. I love a british space jazz band The Comet Is Coming and all their songs are really inspirational, but just to name one: Nano

  14. I just recently got very inspired by Finnish musician Behm. Her new album ticks all the boxes for me and I plan to make ATC-card series inspired by that album. And then, just after deciding that, I saw this ❤️ Your class sounds great!

  15. The class sounds wonderful, Paivi. I couldn’t live without music and have so many songs that I love. At the moment, Perfect by Andrea Bocelli and Ed Sheeran is one of the most beautiful love songs I love to listen to.

  16. What a wonderful theme for a project! A song that always makes me smile is “Happy” by Pharell Williams 🥰

  17. Thank you all for your comments! Lot’s of great music there. I used a random number generator to pick the winner, and she is Cynthia Pirani. Congratulations, Cynthia, I will email you soon!
