Here it is – my first video blog post! Here you can see how I create a small artwork by doodling freely with colored pencils and markers. It took about 30 minutes to create the drawing. You will see every single phase, but a part of it is fast forwarded.
This was terribly exciting, so please excuse my slow talking and grammar mistakes!
All I can say is WOW ! I loved watching the process of your art. It turned out beautiful! I really hope you’ll consider making more videos. You always inspire me.
Thank You!
Thanks, Renee!
Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed your video very much. Please make more.
Thank you, Gina!
Thank you so much for this video! I love watching the process!
Thanks, Caroline!
I love it! It was like magic to watch you bring this piece to life! Thank You so much for making this video and I hope this is only one of many more to come! You are an awesome teacher Päivi!
Thanks so much, Robin! Photos don’t show the whole process, like this video does. That’s one reason to make videos!
So fun to watch! I especially like your comment about beginners often quitting too soon. Very encouraging.
Thanks, Jeanne! (BTW Your watercolor art is beautiful!)
Wow – that was so inspiring! I loved seeing the progress of the doodles. I loved what you said about your life changing moment of realizing that you could keep going and embracing what you had and working until you loved it. Life changing, indeed. Thank you for sharing your work and your passion!
Thank you, Sandi!
Fantastic! I love how you produced this. It was inspirational to watch your artwork develop in fast motion. And l liked your inspirational thoughts at the beginning about continuing even when you are unsure that something beautiful will come out of it. And your postcard was beautiful! Can’t wait to see more of your videos!
Thank you, Doreen!
I do love it!!! Great first video and I’m looking forward to more!
Thanks, Susan!
This is wonderful ! Thanks so much for the video . I love your approach.
Thank you, Debbie!
I loved this! I would love to see more 🙂 Thank you!
Thanks, Kim!
Thank you for the video. It was inspiring to see how you layer and layer and layer color, switching between colored pencils, PITT markers, and black pen. Question…I dont use colored pencils often (but you have inspired me to now) and I dont own any PITT markers. I assume acrylic paint markers (like Sharpie water-based paint markers or Montana paint markers) would also work over the waxiness of colored pencil. Is there a quality to the PITT markers that is different than acrylic paint markers that makes you prefer them? Thanks for your advice. I hope you continue to make videos. I find your blog posts very encouraging and motivating.
Thanks, Erin! Other markers do work on colored pencils but not quite as well as Faber & Castell PITT Artist pens. The ink in PITT pens is different: it’s india ink which can be used especially well in waxy, slippery, non-absorbent surfaces.
I have been dying to watch you work for a long time!! This is wonderful!! I can’t wait to see more! Please!! I try to follow everything you do and as I’ve said before, you are my favorite inspiration. I’ve been wanting to watch you work with colored pencils because I really have trouble enjoying them myself, but I like the effect you get. I also want to learn more about how you cluster things together, shapes or colors. 🙂 Thank you for this video!
Stacey, thanks! I will get more deep in colored pencils on video this fall. And I am always open for ideas for the next blog posts or products, so thanks!!
More, please! Your process is so motivating!! and I love the vibrant results too!
Thank you, Sandy!
I loved to see your layering process. So beautiful!
Thanks, Marcia!
I’ve admired your work for some time…and now I have insight into your process. Your words–that people stop too soon, rang so true for me. Seeing you put down layers upon layers to get to perfection was very educational and inspiring. Looking forward to more v-blogs from you. Thanks so much!
Thanks, Michelle!
Oh, Paivi….this was EXACTLY what I’d asked for on the survey! This was so educational and encouraging. Thank you so very, very much.
Thank you, Peggy!
Päivi, thank you. To be honest I was not enthousiastic when I read your announcement that you will make videos, because I prefer to read. But I enjoyed your video is and I appreciate that it is short (so you do not get the feeling that you do not have the time watching it, which happens to me with some).
Inspired me to make a card as well – I was ready to throw it in the bin during process, but hearing your words about finishing I did. Thank you!
so beautiful…LOVE all your layers…I have been doing more with layers recently and you inspire me to continue!! Thanks.
Thank you, Mary! Have fun layering!
Love this Paivi
I love colored pencils too, this looks so fun, will be trying soon
Connie
Thanks, Connie! Have fun!
Hope you are going to consider doing a book before long. Love the video but there is something so personal about a book. I liked that you didn’t go into a long preamble before starting the drawing and your English was perfectly clear. I don’t know if I could ever be that free in my drawing but you sure inspire trying. Thank you again!
Nea,thanks! I am currently making an e-book. I might make a short video to accompany it, I have not decided yet!
Thank you for this inspiring video. I find it so interesting to see how you use layers. I tend to be rather simple or plain in my approach. I will give your process a try!
Thanks, Christie! Have fun and go overboard! You can always make another one but unless you try, you’ll never know if that was your way to do things!
Fun color play !
Thanks, Dianne!
Yes..more videos please!!
Loved watching your process. And what a valuable lesson to share…to work through the “ugly” parts of art in order to get to the beautiful part. I think that same lesson can also apply to life. Thank you again for your honesty and transparency that comes through in your art. Have a blessed day
Thanks, Polly! Yes, that really can be applied to life!
Well done, Paivi! I thoroughly enjoyed this post. I will be trying out coloured pencils today. Thank you again for the inspiration and instruction. (And it was nice to hear your voice!)
Thank you, Shelly! Have fun with colored pencils!
I loved watching the transformation with each layer.I think Ill work on some of my “given up on” pieces today! Was the thick white pen also a Pitt pen?
Thanks, Joan! The thick white pen was a correction pen – similar to this: http://amzn.to/XD3trf
Everyone has said it already so well. Great job! Loved the video and can’t wait to see more.
Thank you, Claire! See this week’s video blog post at http://www.peonyandparakeet.com/video-blog-apples-and-tomatoes-with-a-gelli-plate/
Loved your video! When you first started, I wasn’t sure how it was going to come out, but you just kept going and it turned into something so lovely! Thanks for sharing your techniques. Look forward to more videos! Blessings!
Thanks, Beth! I had the same feeling: how on earth this will come out! But I am a big believer of practise, so I am going to practise and practise and get better!
Loved watching your video, Paivi. Thank you for inspiring me to start and just keep going even if I make ‘mistakes’. Seeing you create in real time was fascinating!
Thanks, Malini! Yes, make those mistakes and then “beautify” them!
Hei Päivi!

Minulla on ehdotus mitä voisitte yhdessä rakentaa, http://www.onlinecardclasses.com/
on Jennifer McGuire ja Kristina Wernerin perustama.
ArtJounar tekniikoille voisi rakentaa vastaavan. Kurssit sisältävät samantyyppisiä videoita kuin tämä tekemäsi. Naiset kutsuvat vierailevia opettajia avukseen.
Hei Saila, kiitos ideasta! – Thanks! Katsotaan, mitä vuosi tuo tullessaan!
I absolutely love your video! Your card turned out so lovely. Thank you for all your efforts to help us learn to enjoy being creative. Looking forward to more videos in the future!
Thank you, Femi!
Definitely DO love it! I learned a lot about layers and how you can apply color on color on color for a wow product. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Theresa, I am glad you found the video helpful. Some things are easier to show on video!
